Since our founding, ENCWA has walked alongside the elderly, the sick, and the underprivileged in Ukwa West LGA — providing welfare support, healthcare access, education, and a voice for those who have none.
The Ejikeme and Nimi Community Welfare Association was born out of deep love for the people of Alozie-Nwagboso and the surrounding communities. We saw our elders growing old without support, our children missing school due to poverty, and our sick neighbours unable to reach a clinic — and we decided to act.
From palliative care visits to rural homesteads in Umuadienwe, to scholarship awards for bright but struggling students in Asa, and free medical outreaches across Ukwa West LGA — every programme we run is powered by the belief that no one in our community should be left behind.
We are community-owned, transparent, and fully accountable. Every contribution we receive is faithfully deployed, documented, and reported back to our donors and the communities we serve.
These are the principles that guide every decision, every programme, and every partnership we undertake.
We are from this community — not visitors. Every decision we make starts and ends with the wellbeing of the people of Ukwa West LGA and those we serve.
Every naira donated is recorded, audited, and reported. We publish activity reports and share them directly with our donors and community leaders.
Our elderly, our sick, and our disadvantaged youth are not statistics — they are our neighbours and family. We treat every person we serve with dignity and love.
We measure what matters: meals delivered, patients screened, students kept in school, and homes with clean water. We are accountable for results, not just effort.
We build solutions that outlast us — from solar-powered boreholes to vocational skills. Our goal is to create independence and self-reliance in every community we touch.
We hold ourselves to the highest standards. Our executives, trustees, and community stakeholders collectively oversee our work so our mandate is never compromised.
From a small community initiative to a nationally recognised NGO — this is our story.
ENCWA was formally established in Alozie-Nwagboso by community leaders and concerned sons and daughters of Umuadienwe, Asa. The founding mission: holistic welfare for our elderly and the upliftment of our underprivileged youth.
Launched our flagship elderly welfare programme, conducting home visits and providing food, hygiene kits, and companionship to 42 senior citizens across 6 rural homesteads in Ukwa West LGA.
Officially registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria. Governance structures formalised. Volunteer base grew to 80 members drawn from communities across Ukwa West LGA and the Abia diaspora.
Organised our first free medical outreach in Asa, offering blood pressure screening, malaria testing, free medications, and consultations to over 600 community members who had no access to a clinic.
Created the ENCWA Education Fund, awarding the first 12 scholarships to underprivileged children and youths from Umuadienwe and surrounding villages, covering school fees, uniforms, and stationery.
Partnered with local and international stakeholders to complete a community borehole project in Alozie-Nwagboso. Cumulative beneficiaries reached 3,200+. 150+ active volunteers. Five active programmes running simultaneously.
Our programmes are powered by passionate, skilled volunteers who give their time, expertise, and heart to serve communities across Nigeria.
Before ENCWA started visiting me, I was completely alone. Now their volunteers come every month with food and medicine. God bless this association and all who support it.
I joined the medical outreach and was moved by the number of elderly patients who had never had a blood pressure check in their lives. ENCWA is doing essential, life-saving work in Ukwa West.
My daughter would have dropped out of secondary school last year without the ENCWA scholarship. She is now in SS2 and wants to study medicine. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
ENCWA has done more for this community in the past five years than we could have imagined. The borehole alone has transformed daily life here. They are accountable, transparent, and genuinely care.
